In the cabinet
Hessonite is a variety of grossular garnet. Fine Gomed is a transparent cinnamon with a characteristic sleepy, treacly lustre — not the harsh sparkle of citrine. Sri Lankan stones lead the market. We reject glass and zircon sold as hessonite.
In the tradition
Gomed is Rahu’s gem in the Navratna. It is chosen after a reading, traditionally worn on a Saturday.
