In the cabinet
Garnet is a family, not a single stone: pyrope, almandine, spessartine, tsavorite, demantoid. The deep reds are the ones most asked for in our Solapur cabinet. They take a bright polish and wear well in daily gold jewellery.
In the tradition
Red garnet is an old companion of Mars-aligned jewellery in India, and a favoured January birthstone in the Western calendar.

A note from the counter. Tsavorite and demantoid are garnets too — green, rare, and priced accordingly.
